Adele M. (Chelvi) Wargo, 95, of 159 Ringtown Mountain Road, Catawissa, met her Savior on August 9, 2026, at home.

She was born in Atlas on May 19, 1931, daughter of Giacinto and Amabile (Dallapiccola) Chelvi.

Adele attended school in Mount Carmel Township.

On June 11, 1955, she married the love of her life, the late John M. Wargo at St. Peter's Church in Mt. Carmel. During the early years of their marriage the couple lived in Brooklyn, NY; North Bergen, NJ; and Northvale, NJ. She worked many years as a cashier at Grand Union supermarkets in New Jersey and New York. In 1989, they moved to the Numidia area.

Adele was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and cherished her family dearly.  She was a devoted Catholic and lifelong and active member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, in Slabtown. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Catawissa and was a regular attendee of the Senior Action Center in Catawissa. Adele enjoyed cooking and baking and would often share her specialties with family, friends and neighbors.  She won numerous blue ribbons for her baked goods at the annual Bloomsburg Fair and her award-winning entries were frequently featured in the Press Enterprise.

She was the wife of John Wargo for 60 wonderful years, who preceded her in death in 2016.  She is survived by a son, John M. (Melanie) Wargo of Poughkeepsie, NY; a daughter, Cindi (Joseph) Dillon of West Nyack, NY; five grandchildren; James Wargo, Victoria (Joshua) Delmage, David (Amanda) Wargo, Ed (Maureen) Dillon, Kaitlin Dillon, and four great grandchildren; Nolan, Hunter, Connor and Elijah Delmage, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Adele was the last survivor of seven siblings; Irene Youakim, Mabel Kovack, Dorothy Dermont, Mary Rishar, Alma Moll, Melvin Chelvi and Richard Chelvi.

Adele felt doubly blessed with a wonderful church family, Bonnie Kotzo, her dear friend and caregiver, and good supportive neighbors, who were an important part of her life.

She will be deeply missed by all. May she forever rest in peace in God's Kingdom with her Lord and Savior.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Slabtown, Pa.  Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., with Father Martin O. Moran III officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Twp.
