Kulpmont - Adolph Adam Blugis, 85, of 665 Scott Street, passed away in his home on Sunday, June 11, 2017 surrounded by the loving and comforting arms of his family after a lengthy illness.

Born in Shenandoah on June 22, 1931 he was the son of the late Adolph Anthony and Isabel (Zincavage) Blugis. He was a 1949 graduate of WestMahanoyTownshipHigh School

He was employed as a Pennsylvania State Trooper from 1956-1990, during which time he served as a Firearms Instructor and Criminal Investigation Unit Supervisor. He retired from the Pennsylvania State Police at the rank of Corporal. Adolph has been a resident of Kulpmont for the past 48 years, previously residing in Washington DC, Collegeville, Somerset, Norristown and Williamsport.

On May 2, 1959 in St. George's Catholic Church, Shenandoah, he married the love of his life, the former Jean Ann Lacusky, who survives.

Adolph was a member of the Church of the Holy Angels, The Pennsylvania State Troopers Association and The Retired State Police Association of PA. He most enjoyed spending time with his loving family laughing and making beautiful memories. Adolph also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing chess and discussing politics and current events.  He enjoyed watching football and his favorite team was the  Philadelphia Eagles.

He served with the US Army in the Korean War attaining the rank of Corporal where he was a Signal Corp Radio Operator. Adolph also served in Japan and various stateside installations. He received numerous awards for his service to his country.

In addition to his wife, Jean, he is survived by a daughter, Ann Blugis Cooke and her husband Curtis of Northumberland; three sons, Adam Blugis of Maryland; Christopher Blugis and his wife Lori of Cressona and Anthony Blugis of Kulpmont; six grandchildren, Collin, Myles, Alexa, Jordan, Sarah and Daniel Blugis; one Great Aunt, Leona Ahl as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Tomko and Lois Bzdil; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Anna and Fred Lacusky; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Adolph Adam Blugis, 85, of 665 Scott Street, Kulpmont - Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 12:00 noon in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont with Father Andrew Stahmer, officiating.  A private graveside burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.  Viewing will be held Thursday morning from 10:00 - 11:45 with Transferal Prayers at 11:00 in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 1053 Chestnut Street, Kulpmont, C.J.
