Alma M. (Bushick) Swartz, 90, of 826 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville with family by her side.

She was born in Danville on August 8, 1933, the daughter of the late Anthony and Helen (Reppe) Bushick.

Alma was a graduate of Kulpmont High School, class of 1951. She was a student conductor of the Kulpmont High School Band. Alma studied nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. She worked as a seamstress at various clothing factories in Kulpmont and Elysburg.

In September of 1952, she married Stanley Swartz in St. Casimir's Church.

Alma was a member of the Church of the Holy Angels. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and caregiver to her mother, husband, and great-aunt. In her younger days, Alma enjoyed playing BINGO at Knoebel's and spending time with her family at the family cottage. As her family grew, she took pride in following her grandchildren's academic and athletic accomplishments throughout the years.

Alma is survived by a son, Paul Swartz and wife, Paula of Elysburg; a daughter, Carol Madden and husband, James of Elysburg; six grandchildren, Mary Madden and husband, Eric of San Francisco, CA, James Madden of Elysburg, Nathan Madden of Elysburg, Patrick Swartz and wife, Andrea of Laurel Springs, NJ, Amanda Sbriscia and husband, Keith of Granby, MA, and Emily Horan and husband, Jake of Mt. Carmel Twp.;  a great-grandchild, Cullen Horan; a brother-in-law, Robert Remaley; and two sisters-in-law, Julia Bushick and  Gerry Bushick; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Alma was preceded in death by a son, Gary Swartz, a sister, Rita Remaley, and three brothers, Robert, Ronald, and Conrad, who was also her best friend.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont. Burial will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Marion Heights. Viewing will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with transferal prayers at 10 a.m. in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont.
