Andres Ortiz, 86, of 428 E. 6th Street, Mt. Carmel, passed away on July 24, 2026, at The Gardens at Orangeville.

Born in Puerto Rico on November 30, 1939, he was the son of the late Ezequiel Ortiz and Petra Acosta.

As a young man, Andres moved to New York in 1977. He later relocated to the Mount Carmel area in 1987. He was employed as a laborer at Kurt Weiss Greenhouse in Mt. Carmel Twp., where he worked until his retirement in June 2020.

On April 28, 2003, Andres married the former Diana M. Shoffler at the Magisterial District Judge's Office in Mount Carmel.

A member of the Catholic faith, Andres enjoyed cooking, gardening, and working with his hands. He was a talented handyman who could repair just about anything.

Andres is survived by his wife, Diana Ortiz of Mt. Carmel; a daughter, Michelle Ortiz and significant other Forrest Dalapiz of Mt. Carmel; a son, James Ortiz of Mt. Carmel; and a brother-in-law, Richard Shoffler of Shamokin.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from noon until the religious service at 3 p.m. in the C J Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mt. Carmel, PA 17851, C J Lucas IV, Supervisor.
