Mount Carmel - Anna M. Semicek, 99, formerly of 244 East Center Street, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.

Born in Mount Carmel on February 14, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Dzurek) Semicek.  She was a lifelong resident of Mount Carmel and was employed at the Arrow Shirt Factory.

She was educated in St. John the Baptist Elementary School and was a former member of St. John the Baptist Church and currently a member of the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Anna loved to cook and for many decades she hosted Sunday and holiday dinners for family and friends. She was a world class perogie maker for St. John the Baptist Church events.  Anna was a devout Roman Catholic, embracing the virtues of humility and charity.  For these reasons, there is consensus among her surviving family members that she may well be the first person they have known to have earned a "ticket" to Heaven.

She was the last member of her immediate family. She is survived by nephews and nieces, Charles Sacavage and his wife Mary of Pawley's Island, SC; Judge Robert Sacavage and his wife Mary of Mount Carmel; Beverly Mariano and her husband Marty of Bloomsburg; Gregory Sacavage of Kulpmont; Maryann Angeloni and Elaine Mayernick both of New Jersey; Marie Dimm and her husband Lamar of Georgia; Caesar Butkiewicz and his wife Susan, Anthony Butkiewicz, Barbara Zaylskus and her husband Jack and Michael Semicek, all of Mount Carmel. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Verna Mayernick & her husband Andrew, Elizabeth Sacavage & her husband Charles and Marie Butkiewicz and her husband Caesar,  a brother Michael Semicek and his wife Rita, her nephew, Andrew Mayernick of New Jersey and her niece, Ann Keeler of Allentown.

Anna M. Semicek, 99, formerly of 244 East Center Street, Mount Carmel - Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 20, 2018 at 11:00 am in Church of Our Lady, 47 South Market Street, Mount Carmel with Father Francis Karwacki, officiating.  Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township.  Viewing will be held Friday morning from 9:00 - 10:45 with Vigil Prayers at 10:00 in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, C.J.
