Mount Carmel – Annamae (Barrett) Dengler, 72, of 203 W. 3 ^rd St., passed away March 5, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born in Philadelphia on July 6, 1950, the daughter of William J. and Elizabeth (Schillow) Barrett.

She attended St. Bernard's Elementary School and was a 1968 graduate of Saint Hubert's High School for Girls in Philadelphia. She worked in the commissary in the Navy Yard in Jacksonville, FL and was the owner and operator of Primitive Artwork store in Jacksonville, FL. In March of 2020, she moved to Mt. Carmel to live with her sister Elizabeth.

On September 11, 1971, she married George "JR" Dengler in St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church in Philadelphia. Together they shared 48 years of marriage until his passing on November 11, 2019.

She was an avid reader and loved watching movies. She adored her dogs who she treated as her children. Her current dog is named Rocky. She loved driving her van, which she called "Buggy". Annamae was very proud to be a Navy wife to her husband George who was a career Navy man.

Annamae is survived by three sisters, Elizabeth McCullough and husband Michael of Mt. Carmel, Teresa Coyne and husband Frank of Avalon, NJ, Marie Patterson and life partner Steve Snyder of Elmer, NJ; a brother William Barrett and wife Diane of Bear, DE; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral service will be held March 25, 2023 at 3 p.m. with Reverend Joan Brown as celebrant in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, C. J. Lucas IV, Supervisor. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
