KULPMONT - Our collective hearts were broken when our sweet, beloved Anthony "Tony" Blugis suddenly left us on Saturday, March 23rd at the all too young age of, 55. Tony passed away in his home and is now back alongside his adoring Father and other loved ones who went before him.

Tony had the most beautiful heart and generous soul. He was the youngest of the Blugis children and from the moment he arrived on November 16th, 1968 he was pure sunshine. He grew to become the most loving and devoted Son, Brother, Grandson, Nephew, Brother-in-law and Uncle. But where he truly excelled was in his role as a Father. His greatest accomplishment and source of endless joy was being Dad to his two children, Myles Anthony and Alexa Renee. They were the center of his world and from the moment he first held his son and later his daughter, they owned his huge heart. They share an unbreakable bond and a love for one another that was incredibly beautiful to witness.

At the tender age of 10, Tony was sadly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, which led to a lifetime of challenging health issues until his passing. Despite multiple surgeries, prolonged recoveries and near constant pain, he masked it with a smile on his handsome face. He lived his best life with those he loved and he did it on his own terms every single day.

Tony was tall and strikingly attractive. Behind that charming appearance was a multi-faceted person. If you poll his family and friends about adjectives to best describe him, the list would include: funny, fun, opinionated, kind, generous, helpful, knowledgeable and just so wonderful to be around. And most importantly, he was fiercely protective of those he loved and the sweetest animal lover you will ever know. He was incredibly selfless and the person you wanted in your corner. When asked, his future daughter-in-law warmly reflected that he was the type of person who made you feel right at home. He welcomed you and left you feeling happy, loved and safe in his presence.

He had a long list of things he was passionate about and absolutely loved and enjoyed. Hunting, fishing, electronics, cars, politics and stereos are a few things that top the list. Not to mention, he was very excited to Make America Great Again in 2024! Tony was also the most devoted fan in the history of the Dallas Cowboys. It was glass half full when mid-season hit and his "boys" were not having the year that he hoped for. When that happened he turned his attention to his most favorite holiday, Halloween. If you ever enjoyed a spooky, fun filled night at the Elysburg Haunted House you have Tony to thank. He was instrumental in the creative design and execution, and volunteered each night to thrill countless people. Tony loved nothing more than sharing the experience each year with his son and brother-in-law. The Haunted House is now minus the best Grim Reaper in the history of Pennsylvania haunted houses.

Tony was a graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School. He worked in automotive retail and logistics.

Tony is survived by a son, Myles Blugis of Bloomsburg; a daughter, Alexa Blugis of MD; mother, Jean Blugis of Kulpmont; sister, Ann Margaret Blugis-Cooke and husband, Curtis of Northumberland; two brothers, Adam Blugis and wife, Sharon of MD and Christopher Blugis and wife, Lori of Cressona; as well as many nieces, nephews, one great-nephew, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Adolph Blugis; maternal grandparents, Fred and Anna Lacusky; and paternal grandparents, Adolph and Isabel Blugis.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at noon with Father Andrew Stahmer and concelebrant, Father David Dormer officiating in the Church of the Holy Angels, Kulpmont. Private burial will follow. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service at 8 p.m. and Friday morning from 10 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, Ashley Paige Doyle Supervisor.
