Mount Carmel – Anthony F. "Tony" Grayeski Jr., 67, of 51 S. Poplar St., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on April 19, 2025.

Tony was born on November 3, 1957, at Shamokin Hospital, and was the son of Anthony and Carolyn (Greco) Grayeski Sr. of Mount Carmel.

He grew up in Mount Carmel and was a 1975 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School. After graduation, he immediately entered the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed at Minot AFB, ND. During his service, he received the Air Force Longevity Service Award and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.

Tony met the love of his life and beloved wife, Cathy (McGinley) Grayeski. They were married on August 11, 1984. During their 40 years of marriage, they had three children—Anthony, Trisha, and Gary—and together raised their family in Mount Carmel.

Tony was of the Catholic faith and a member of Divine Redeemer Church, Mount Carmel. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, holding the position of Third Degree, and a member of the Atlas Legion.

In his earlier years, he was employed at Liberty Bank in Mount Carmel, Xerox in Reading, Roadway in Tannersville, and most recently as a long-haul driver for International Paper in Mount Carmel, until his retirement in October 2022.

Tony loved his family above all else. He was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren—babysitting, attending sporting events and dance shows. He loved and cherished them deeply.

Tony enjoyed listening to music, watching snowfall, and celebrating Christmas. He loved family gatherings and watching his Philadelphia Eagles football games. He had a passion for the latest technology and loved to travel. Some of his favorite trips were to the New England states, Utah, and summer vacations at the Maryland beaches.

Tony was a humble man. His subtle humor made him naturally funny. He will forever reside in our hearts and will continue to inspire and guide us.

Tony is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Cathy; three children, Anthony Grayeski III and fiancée Jess and her children, Connor and Aubrey of Ashland, Trisha Avellino and husband, Douglas of Elysburg, and Gary Grayeski of Mount Carmel; three grandchildren, Emma, Erin, and Brady Avellino; a sister, Judy Ecker and husband, Robert; a niece, Jennifer Wojtowicz; a nephew, Robbie Ecker; a great-nephew, Orion Wojtowicz; three brothers-in-law, Dominic McGinley, Tony McGinley, and Joe McGinley; three sisters-in-law, Terry Gross, Marie McGinley-Kleman and husband, Joe, and Aggie McGinley-Horan; as well as many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews with whom he was very close.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Saverio and Theresa (Calabretta) Greco; parents, Anthony and Carolyn (Greco) Grayeski Sr.; a brother, Gary Grayeski; a niece, Kimberly (Ecker) Olson; parents-in-law, Dominic and Mary McGinley; and a sister-in-law, Joanne Dallabrida.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 1 p.m. with Father Bernard Wamayose, AJ, officiating in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 W. Ave., Mt. Carmel. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30th, from 9 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. with transferal prayers at noon in the C J Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mt.
