Antoinette M. (Toni) Sommers, 85, of 335 W 3rd St., Mt. Carmel, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center.

Born in Mt. Carmel on April 30, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Olga (Chango) Guarna.

Toni was a 1956 graduate of Mt. Carmel Catholic High School. She worked for many years for Eleanor Kropp and Kay Hogan at Tiffany's Beauty Shop in Mt. Carmel.

On May 20, 1961, in the former St. Peter's church, she married John P. (Jack) Sommers.

Toni was a member of Divine Redeemer Church in Mt. Carmel, where she participated in many church activities. She enjoyed shopping for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and generously contributed to many youth Christmas gift programs.

Surviving in addition to Jack, her husband of 63 years, are two sons, John K. and his wife, Anne of South Carolina and Mark of Harrisburg; three grandchildren, Kevin and his wife, Leslie of Middletown, Kayla and her boyfriend, Dan of Paxinos, and Gianna and her husband, Danny Boychuck of Texas; four great grandchildren, Zander, Parker, Sasha, and Cooper Sommers; her nephew, Vince Guarna and his wife, Colleen of Mt. Carmel Twp.; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Vincent Guarna Sr.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 1 p.m. with Father Martin Moran as celebrant and Father Bernard Wamayose, A. J. as concelebrant in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 W. Ave., Mt. Carmel. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd, from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. with the Rosary starting at 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 24th, from 11 a.m. – 12:40 p.m. with transferal prayers at noon in the C J Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N.
