On Friday, January 3, 2025, Betty Irene Vazquez (Peifer), known affectionately as "Susie" to her family, passed away after a series of health issues.  Betty, who had just marked her 87th birthday on December 31, 2024, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home with her adult children by her bedside.

Betty was born on December 31, 1937, in Danville, PA to Milton and Goldie Peifer.  Betty grew up in the Trevorton and Shamokin areas and attended local schools.

Betty went to work at an early age and worked at various jobs as a young woman and over the years she began to work in the hospitality industry as both a waitress and a hostess at various restaurants.  She enjoyed this type of work and worked very hard over the years to support her family. While she did work long hours, she really did enjoy her work. To those that knew her this was no surprise.  Her desire to care for and to serve others made this a perfect fit for her.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the children. Betty loved sitting around the table with family and friends and just talking and playing cards. She enjoyed drawing and coloring with the children.  She also loved food.  She enjoyed talking about it, eating it, and most importantly, cooking meals for others.

Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Joanie Peifer; her daughter, Michelle Vazquez; and most, recently, her brother-in-law, Ronald Dimm.

Betty is survived by two sons, Allan Alspach Jr. and his wife, Mary, and Ronald Alspach; a daughter, Brenda Newman and her husband, Bob.  Betty is also survived by her sisters, Nancy Dimm and Marion Madera and her husband, Tony.  Betty also leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the Mountainside Assembly of God Church, 1900 Trevorton Rd, Coal Township, PA 17866. Burial will follow at Northumberland Memorial Park, 2956 State Route 61, Sunbury, PA. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service in the Church.
