Kulpmont - Carl J. Stillo of Kulpmont went with the Lord to reunite with his wife, Elizabeth, who he has waited to see again for the last 32 years on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Mount Carmel Nursing Center surrounded by his loving family.

Carl was born on July 30, 1923 to Catherina (Nestico) and Guiseppe Stillo.

In 1948 he married the former Elizabeth Mosella who was the love of his life who passed away on May 16, 1986.

Carl's career began in barbering at the age of 19 where he went to work at Fort Indiantown Gap to cut hair for the new recruits of the Korean War. At the time he also began barbering at Bucknell University where he remained for the next 22 years.  While there he became a friend and mentor to numerous students and faculty.  He also became the local advocate for the Deppen Scholarship which helped many local students from the Kulpmont/Mount Carmel Area continue their studies.  Carl left Bucknell in 1972 and continued cutting hair at Milton Hershey School for Boys.  He stayed there for the next 20 years.  In his spare time he also worked at many local barber shops in this county and surrounding counties.  These people came to Carl for his help because of his expertise in cutting hair.  He also received many awards throughout his career for cutting hair which led to his lifetime goal of becoming a State Barber Examiner.

Carl's career did not only consist of barbering, he was one of the first technicians for Northumberland County for voting machines.  He also served as a Jury Commissioner in Northumberland County.

Throughout his lifetime he spent many years serving his community by taking an active role as Councilman in Kulpmont. He was a member of Holy Angels Church and the former St. Mary's Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister which he truly enjoyed.  He was one of the first members of the Knights of Columbus, The Holy Name Society, Sons of Italy, and lifetime member of the West End Fire Company.  While being a firefighter, a great accomplishment for Carl, was being able to save a mother and her 5 1/2 month old son from a two story blaze.

Carl and his wife had three daughters, Sandra Williams of Kulpmont; Carol Wiszynski and her husband George of Silver Spring, Maryland; and Maria Wolfgang and her husband Donald of Ranshaw; granddaughter Jennifer Deitz and her husband Brian of Kulpmont; grandson Donald Wolfgang Jr. of Kulpmont; and granddaughter Danielle Wolfgang of Ranshaw; three great grandchildren, Robert and Sara Deitz and Landon Williams all of Kulpmont. In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by a grandson Ryan Williams and two brothers, Paul and Dominic Stillo.

Even though Carl led a very fulfilled life the most fulfilling part was his family and friends whom he was always there for whenever they needed him.

We love you Dad. We love you Pap.  We will never forget you.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Carl J. Stillo of Kulpmont - Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11:00 am in Holy Angels Church, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont with Father Andrew Stahmer, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kulpmont.  Viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 - 9:00 with the Rosary at 8:00 and Saturday morning from 9:00 - 10:45 with transferal prayers at 10:00 in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 1053 Chestnut Street, Kulpmont, C.J.
