Carol Ann (Bovidge) Joraskie, 85, formerly of Mount Carmel passed away on April 8, 2024, at Green Valley Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Pottsville.

She was born in Fountain Springs on February 10, 1939, the daughter of Eva Bovidge.

Carol was a graduate of Conyngham Centralia High School, class of 1956. She lived in Mount Carmel for most of her life. Carol worked a variety of jobs over the course of her life from waitressing at Mattucci's and The Pine Burr, having her own beauty shop, retail clerk at Rea & Derrick Drug, to owning a food truck with her husband Fritz in the 80s, and then a bar, Carol's (formerly Shuda's) in Mt. Carmel, until retiring.

On June 6, 1983, in Mount Carmel, she married the late Francis R. "Fritz" Joraskie, who preceded her in death in 2012.

Carol was a member of the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Carol is survived by two sons, Thomas McSurdy of Aristes and Michael of Sunbury; three grandchildren, Ross McSurdy of Stokesdale, North Carolina, Shannon McSurdy of Newark, Delaware, and Michael McSurdy of Elysburg; a great-granddaughter, Piper McSurdy; a niece, Michele Krupa; three great-nephews, Chris Yucha, Justin Slotterback, and Joseph Serovich Jr.; as well as a great-great-nephew and a great-great-niece, Justin JJ Slotterback and Khloe Slotterback. In addition, Heather Zangari had become like a niece to Carol and provided much love and support.

In addition to her mother and husband, Carol was preceded in death by two sisters, Diane Smith and Bonnie Krupa; and her brother, Robert (Yocky) Metzinger. Although proceeding her in death, Carol also enjoyed traveling with her companion, Andrew "Andy" Sincavage of Elysburg. Andy's son, Kevin and daughter-in-law, Lisa Sincavage of Elysburg survive, always remaining close to Carol.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Father Francis Karwacki officiating in the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass in the Church.
