Kulpmont – Catherine M. Nestico, 94, passed away Friday, August 23rd, at Serenity Gardens surrounded by her family.

She was born at home on August 20, 1930 to the late Dennis Carroll and Helen Peek.

She married the late Victor Nestico on May 2, 1949.  His passing in 2020 broke a marital union of 70 years. Together, they had 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Kulpmont High School in 1948.  She worked in the garment industry, where she began her career in the local dress factories.  Later, she and her husband started their own factory named Tammy Kate Incorporated in Shamokin, where they worked until their retirement.

She was a member of Holy Angels Parish in Kulpmont.

She lived her life for her family; she was a true matriarch.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren especially during Sunday dinners and holidays.  She enjoyed taking car rides with her husband in the country, particularly during bad weather which always worried the family.  She loved the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles.  She spent many years in the stands locally watching her grandchildren play in their sporting events.  She found great joy in the visits from her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Nick (Bonnie) Nestico and Bernie (Jan) Nestico, both of Kulpmont; her 2 daughters, Kathy Sosnoski and Sharon Turlis, both of Marion Heights; 10 grandchildren: Victor Nestico, Tammy (Chris) Feudale, Katie (Eric) Giorgini, Oakes (Kim) Nestico, Kandi (Rob) Gonzalez, Mike (Carissa) Sosnoski, Kory Turlis, Bernie (Erica) Nestico, Andrew (Natalie) Turlis, and Victor Nestico; 11 great-grandchildren: Ellese Nestico, Christopher Feudale, Nick Nestico, Joey Feudale, Sydney Gonzalez, Cameron Gonzalez, Oakes Nestico, Mason Giorgini, Nico Nestico, Roman Giorgini, and  Audrey Turlis; and 3 sisters: Marie (Joe) Poboy of Mechanicsburg, Nancy Hauer of Shamokin, and Sylvia (Joe) Ruths of Northumberland.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Michael "Mucks" Sosnoski and Barry Turlis as well as her sister Helen Seroskie and brother Bernard Carroll.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery, Marion Heights. Viewing will be held in the Church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
