Avon Lake, OH - Charles R. "Charlie" Andracchio, 88, of Avon Lake, OH, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Independence Village Senior Living in Avon Lake, Ohio.

Born July 2, 1937, in Mount Carmel, PA, he was predeceased by his parents, father Ralph Andracchio and his mother, Rose (Guarna) Andracchio.

Charlie graduated from Mount Carmel Catholic High School in 1953.  He attended Williamsport Technical School and received a certificate in Welding. After spending two years as a welder at a fabrication factory in Philadelphia, he enrolled at Penn State University, majoring in Engineering. After one year at Penn State, he transferred to Indiana Institute of Technology, Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Charlie worked as an Engineer at the NASA Lewis Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio.  He was primarily testing airplane and spacecraft capabilities in the Center's Wind Tunnel. He wrote several research papers and received many commendations for his work.  He retired from NASA in 2003.

Charlie was a co-founder and original member of the Cleveland Dart Club. The Club traveled to various cities in the USA to attend dart tournaments. The Club also hosted visiting dart clubs from England. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

Charlie spent most of his vacation time and his time after retirement visiting, and thoroughly enjoying, his extended family.

Charlie is survived by his brother, Vincent C. Andracchio, MD of Rocky Mount, NC; and his sister, Louise and husband, William F. Mannion of Laurel, MD. Charlie is also survived by nieces, Mary Smith, Highland, MD, Lisa Stone, Rocky Mount, NC, Sylvia Saint-Amand, Fayetteville, NC, Maria Patterson, Rocky Mount, NC; and nephews, William Mannion, Laurel, MD, and Vincent Andracchio, Jr., Rocky Mount, NC.; nine great nephews and nieces; and three great-great nephews.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 14th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Bernard Wamayose, A.J., officiating at Saint Peter's Cemetery, Mount Carmel Twp., PA.
