Debra Ann (Amarose) Rooney, 58, of 321 South Vine St., passed away on January 18, 2025, at her residence.

She was born in Shamokin on July 21, 1966, the daughter of the late Edward Amarose and Marion Aranavage.

Debra attended Mount Carmel Area High School and graduated with the class of 1984.

She was an Army veteran and served as a cook in the military from 1984 – 1988.

Debra was a lifelong resident of Atlas and Mount Carmel. She was a retail worker at Walmart in Coal Township, where everyone loved her. She was a past chairperson for the Relay for Life, and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Red Tornadoes. Debra was a people's person, and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was also a member of the Catholic faith.

Debra is survived by a daughter, Melissa Yeager and her husband Greg of Shillington; 5 brothers, John Amarose and wife Maria of Mount Carmel, Edward Amarose and wife Lisa of Atlas, Mark Amarose and wife Elizabeth of Danville, Matthew Amarose of Mount Carmel, and Peter Amarose of Atlas; 4 sisters, Mary Beattie of Nescopeck, Isabell Amarose of Atlas, Eileen Lindemuth and husband Robert of Mount Carmel, and Theresa Fingers and husband John of North Carolina; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Debra was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Justin Amarose, and a brother-in-law, Robert Beattie.

Religious Services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 2 p.m. with Deacon Walter Kozlowski officiating in the C J Lucas Funeral Home Inc. 27 N. Vine Street, Mt. Carmel, C J Lucas IV, Supervisor. Burial will follow at a later date at the convenience of the family. Visitaion will be held from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the C J Lucas Funeral Home Inc..
