Elysburg – Dorothy (Homanick) Curran, 96, of 37 Pine Ave., passed away December 17, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Sunbury.

She was born in Mount Carmel on March 30, 1926, the daughter of John and Sophie (Harrison) Homanick.

Dorothy attended Mount Carmel High School and lived most of her life in the Delaware County, PA area. In June of 1946 she married John J. Curran in SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Mt. Carmel. Together they shared 76 years of marriage before John's passing on June 29, 2022.

Dorothy was a member of SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening, floral arranging, decorating, singing, and going out to eat.

Dorothy is survived by a son, Dennis Curran; a daughter, Janet Steele and husband, Ralph; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was the last of her family, predeceased by her parents; husband; five sisters, Anna, Ellen, Sophie, Irene, and Olga; three brothers, Thomas, Johnny, and Eddie; and a brother and sister who both died as children, Joseph and Mary.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Very Reverend Archpriest Michael Hutsko as celebrant in the SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Mt. Carmel. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.  Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass in the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 131 N. Beech St., Mt. Carmel, PA 17851. Arrangements are in care of C. J.
