Dorothy L. Snyder, 94, of 243 East Avenue, Mount Carmel, passed away on December 13, 2024, at her residence.

She was born in Mount Carmel, where she lived all her life, on October 30, 1930 to the late George Yanick and Anna Katzara.

Dorothy graduated from Mount Carmel Area High School, class of 1948.

On November 19, 1955, in the Slovak Presbyterian Church of Mount Carmel, she married the late William G. Snyder, who preceded her in death on September 26, 2019.

She was a secretary at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and a homemaker.

Dorothy was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Mount Carmel, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was the president of the Westminster Society, which is the ladies' group of the United Presbyterian Church. She presided as Clerk of Session, and was also an Elder and a Deacon. She prepared the altar for Communion services and was a past church choir member.

Her passion and ministry in life was remembering shut-ins and friends by sending out greeting cards for holidays and birthdays, and sending "thinking of you" cards. She wrote cards for all occasions. She taught bible school and helped at the Primitive Methodist Church in Mount Carmel. She enjoyed going out for dinner with friends at Green's Family Restaurant in Lavelle, especially Friday evenings and Sundays after church worship service. She was a caregiver for all of her family and friends, especially those who lived closest to her on the 200 block of East Avenue.

Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Virginia Ann Snyder of Mount Carmel; and three nieces, Roberta Stutzman and husband Dennis of Boyertown, Regina Yanick of Gilbertsville, and Sue Wilds and husband Steve of Harrisburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and eight brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of her siblings.
