Mount Carmel – Dorothy B. "Grammy" Thurner, 84, of 242 W. 2 ^nd St., passed away March 11, 2022 at her residence.

She was born in Kulpmont on June 27, 1937, the daughter of Alex and Anna (Olbrish) Kasinowski.

Dorothy was raised in Kulpmont and attended St. Casimir's School. In her younger years she worked at the Shamokin Shoe Factory and Kanmack Mills in Kulpmont.

On March 11, 2006, she married Carl Thurner in Holy Angels Church. Carl preceded her in death on January 27, 2019.

Dorothy was a member of Holy Angels Church, VFW in Kulpmont, American Legion in Kulpmont, West End Fire Co., and the Lithuanian Club in Mount Carmel.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Dorothy spent her life in care of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was kind, loving, caring, and generous to everyone. Dorothy loved cooking, baking, shopping, and going on trips to the Casino.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Mary McSurdy and husband, Robert of Kulpmont and Dolly Dadurka and husband, Dwayne of Ashland; a son, Glenn Barwicki and wife, Ann of Kulpmont; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, John Buggy of Kulpmont. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Frances Barwicki; second husband, Carl Thurner; daughter, Rita Buggy; two sisters; four brothers; and a grandson, Glenn Francis Barwicki.

Dorothy B. "Grammy" Thurner, 84, of 242 W. 2 ^nd St., Mt. Carmel – *Time Change* Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating in Holy Angels Church, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Viewing will be held in the Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, National Headquarters, 6520 N.
