Kulpmont – Edith R. (Long) Howerter, 89, of Timberwood Apartments, passed away October 20, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born on July 13, 1932, the daughter of the late Walter and Ellen (Hummel) Long.

Edith attended school in Kulpmont. She worked at the Pine Burr Inn and Welden's Market.

On September 17, 1949, she married Wilbert R. Howerter, who preceded her in death in 2010.

Edith was a member of Kulpmont United Methodist Church.

Edith is survived by three sons, Warren Howerter and wife, Laura of Mount Carmel, Wilbert Howerter and wife, Patricia of Saylorsburg, and Ronald Howerter and wife, Lisa of Kulpmont; a daughter, Darlene Zanolini and husband, William of Sugarloaf; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Howerter of Locustdale; three grandsons, William Zanolini and wife, Amanda, Steven Howerter and wife, Heather, and Neal Zanolini; seven granddaughters, Eileen Zarski and husband, Jason, Jeneen Stevens and husband, William, Juanita McBride and husband, Shawn, Pamela Heard and husband, Rodney, Crystal Rittenhouse and husband, Daniel, Ellen Togerson and husband, Marty, and Megan Zanolini and companion Steven Langlon; twelve great-grandsons; six great-granddaughters; two great-great grandsons; four great-great-granddaughters; a brother, James Long of Wind Gap; a sister, Ellen Knecth and husband, William of Wind Gap; a brother-in-law, Ronald Howerter and wife, Brenda of VA; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Guinther of Mount Carmel and Blendine Howerter of Elysburg. In addition to her husband and parents, Edith was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wilbert and Sarah Jane (Thacher) Howerter; son, Brian Howerter; grandson, Philip Zanolini; brother, Walter Long and wife, Goldie; three brothers-in-law, Harry Guinther, James Howerter, and Edward Howerter and wife, Catherine; four sisters-in-law, Gale Long, Florence Milbrand and husband, Donald, Sara Jane Zimmerman and husband, Donald; and Eileen Schlagel and husband, Wally.
