Kulpmont – Edward D. Bielski, 88, of 1063 Scott Street, passed away on October 5, 2023, at Mt. Carmel Senior Living Community.

He was born in Shamokin on January 2, 1935, the son of the late Joseph and Wanda (Bonczkowski) Bielski.

Edward was a graduate of St. Edward's School, class of 1953. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1953-1957. Edward was employed as a claims interviewer for the Department of Labor and Industry.

On May 26, 1956, he married the former Catherine Nestico in St. Mary's Church, Kulpmont.

Edward was a member of the Church of the Holy Angels and the Kulpmont American Legion. He was an umpire for softball, a referee for basketball, and an avid Philadelphia sports fan. Edward enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports before he got ill.

Edward is survived by his wife, Catherine Bielski; two sons, Daniel Bielski and Thomas Bielski and wife, Debbie; a daughter, Christy Hood and husband, Mike; five grandchildren, Kaitlin Hood, Alyssa Bielski, Darla Kalbarchick and husband, Charles, Tommy Bielski, and Michael Hood; and a great-grandchild, Aubrie Hood; as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Bielski, Joseph "Harry" Bielski, and Richard Bielski.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating at the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Viewing will be held on Tuesday in the Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
