Eleanor Marie (Dettrey) O'Hearn, 86, of 145 Chestnut Street, Kulpmont, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 20, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Harold "Ducky" and Martha (Pulaski) Dettrey. Prior to moving to Kulpmont, Eleanor was a resident of Mount Carmel and Centralia. She was a 1957 graduate of Mount Carmel Catholic High School.

On August 22, 1964, Eleanor married the love of her life, Francis "Fritz" O'Hearn, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with Monsignor Francis Clemins officiating.

Eleanor was employed at Union National Bank in Mount Carmel for more than 38 years. She retired in 2020 at the remarkable age of 80. She truly enjoyed the people she met each day and the coworkers who became lifelong friends.

She was a member of Holy Angels Church, the HALO Ladies Organization of Holy Angels, and a former member of the Kulpmont Lions.

Eleanor never missed a moment when it came to her grandchildren-whether watching Devin play baseball, Kirsten play softball, or Dalton march with the MCA Big Red Band. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren grow and thrive. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo, reading, and tending to her garden.

Eleanor is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Francis O'Hearn; her sons, Edward O'Hearn and his wife, Michelle (Onusconage), and their daughter, Kirsten O'Hearn; Kevin O'Hearn and his wife, Debra (Pastuzak), and their sons, Devin and Dalton O'Hearn; her sister-in-law, Carol Dettrey; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Harry Barr; her brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Ennie Dettrey; and her brother, Raymond Dettrey.

Services will be held in the spring, because anyone who knew Eleanor knew she hated the cold. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11 a.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating in the Church of the Holy Angels, Kulpmont. All are invited for a graveside service, which will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.  Visitation will be held in the Church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
