Atlas - Eugene John Habowski, Jr., 81, of 215 East Saylor Street, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 25, 2018 surrounded by his family at his daughter's residence at 126 Columbia Avenue, Atlas.

Born in Ashland on May 2, 1937, he was the son of the late Eugene John, Sr. and Violet (Rich) Habowski.  A lifelong resident of the area, Eugene was employed as an orderly at Shamokin Hospital and later at Sealed Air Corporation in Paxinos for 30 years, due to health issues, he had to take early retirement.

His favorite place was the Greek Isle Cafe in Mount Camel where he would hang out with his inseparable buddy, his grandson Kyle and granddaughter Breanna, reminiscing with a friend, Dominic, having coffee or a bite to eat, then gambling on the machine which he was very lucky and also scratching instant lottery tickets.

On September 23, 1967 in Mount Carmel, he married the late Jean Staffi who preceded him in death on December 18, 2005. Eugene attended St. Casimir's Grade School and graduated from Roosevelt High School.  He was a current member at Church of Our Lady, formerly a member of St. Joseph's Church, Mount Carmel.

He served in the United States Army, during peacetime.

Eugene is survived by three daughters, Barbara Puketza and her husband William III of Mount Carmel, Maryann Kruskie and her husband Tom of Atlas and Gloria Mowrer and her husband Tom of Sunbury; seven grandchildren, Brooke, Tyler, Breanna & Kyle Kruskie, Amanda, Tiani and Tommie Mowrer; one great grandchild coming in 2019; one sister, Sylvia Eister and one brother, Michael Habowski and his companion Roseann all of Kulpmont; three nephews, Gerald R. Eister and his wife Linda of North Carolina, Eugene J. Eister and his wife Tammy of Florida and Michael A. Habowski of Catawissa; two nieces, Tina Feudale of Florida and Holly Feudale of Dallastown; eight great nephews and five great nieces. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two sisters, Pat Lauda and Dorothy Feudale. He was a beloved Father and wonderful Pappy, he will always be loved and missed by his family.

Eugene John Habowski, Jr., 81, of 215 East Saylor Street, Atlas - Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11:00 am in Church of Our Lady, 47 South Market Street, Mount Carmel with Father Francis Karwacki, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township.  Viewing will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00 - 10:45 with Vigil Prayers at 10:00 in the C.J.
