Mt. Carmel - Evelyn Pedergnana, 96, passed away in her residence in the early morning hours of May 2, 2025.

She was born on May 13, 1928, in Mount Carmel, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Pietrewicz) Yenolevich, and was a graduate of Mount Carmel Catholic High School's class of 1946. Upon graduation, she was awarded for 10 years of perfect attendance, in addition to the highest averages in English and French.

On December 31, 1949, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, she married Theodore Pedergnana, who preceded her in death on February 2, 2009.

After graduation, Evelyn worked for Bell Telephone of Philadelphia for a few years. Upon her return to the area, she was employed by Lady Jane Manufacturing Co. Following her marriage, she co-operated a grocery store with her husband, after which she became a full-time mother and homemaker.

She was a faithful member of Divine Redeemer Church, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Rosary Society, and socially one of the Red Hats.

Her survivors include a son, David and wife Michelle (Kansas); five daughters, Lucille Farkas (widow of James, Missouri), Susan Showalter and husband Robert (Pittsburgh), Alice Camille (New Mexico), Ida Reilly and husband James (Wyomissing), and Evelyn Mautner (North Carolina), daughter-in-law Charlene, 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, and nieces and nephews, including a special niece Suzanne Vivino.

In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her son Ted, her daughter Diane and husband Richard, an infant son Mark, sisters: Irene Vivino and Alice Engelke, a brother Andrew Yenolevage and wife Beatrice.

Evelyn was beloved by her family for whom she lovingly cared. She was always ready with a pot of coffee, some snacks and sweets. She loved playing games, building jigsaw puzzles, and faithfully completing the puzzles in the newspaper each day. She will be deeply missed.

All are welcome to the Funeral Mass on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Father Bernard Wamayose, AJ, officiating in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 W. Ave., Mt. Carmel. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Twp. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Divine Redeemer Church, 438 W. Ave., Mt.
