Shady Acres – Florence T. Zsido, 78, formerly of 166 Poplar Drive, Shady Acres passed away May 12, 2023 at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.

She was born in Shamokin Hospital on May 20, 1944, the daughter of the late Paul Thomas and Anna (Soboleski) Stanchick.

Florence was a graduate of St. Stanislaus Elementary School and Our Lady of Lourdes High School, class of 1962. She was born and raised in Shamokin, moved to Mount Carmel in 1968, and in 1974 she moved to Shady Acres in Kulpmont. Florence was employed as a Customer Service Representative at Susquehanna Bank in Shamokin from 1963-2007.

On August 17, 1968, in St. Stanislaus Church she married Ronald T. Zsido, who preceded her in death on August 14, 2007.

She was a member of Holy Angels Church, Kulpmont. Florence enjoyed attending exercise classes at Star Physical Therapy, crocheting, and loved music, especially Polka. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sports activities.

Florence is survived by a son, Ronald Zsido and wife, Katie of Elysburg; a daughter, Linda Ayres and husband, John of Den Mar Gardens; five grandchildren, John Ayres, Lauren Ayres, Ronald Zsido, Michael Zsido, and Colette Zsido; a sister, Marie Deteskey of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers, Frank Stanczyk and wife, Bonnie of Mt. Carmel and Albert Stanchick of Coal Twp.; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Florence was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Richard Stanchick; a sister, Rose Ann Stanchick; a brother-in-law, Henry Robert Deteskey; and a niece, Larissa Stanczyk-Voeckler.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 12 p.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating in Holy Angels Church, Kulpmont. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kulpmont. Viewing will be held on Sunday, May 14, 2023 from 6 p.m. until the Christian Wake Service at 8 p.m. and Monday, May 15, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine Street, Mt. Carmel, C. J. Lucas IV, Supervisor.
