Mount Carmel – Frank J. "Sonny" Zeretski Jr., 76, passed away suddenly on January 4, 2024, at his residence.

He was born in Mount Carmel on April 21, 1947, the son of the late Frank J. Zeretski Sr. and Anna T. (Smith) Zeretski.

Frank was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School, class of 1965. Shortly after graduation, Frank proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1971. He then furthered his education at Rutgers University, earning a degree in education and dedicating his career to teaching at-risk youth in New Jersey.

Frank was a man of many talents and interests. He was an accomplished artist and photographer with a passion for playing the flute. Frank also enjoyed learning Chinese and exploring various forms of religion and spirituality. Known for his unique and special spirit, Frank was a devoted son and a cherished uncle who truly marched to the beat of his own drum.

Frank is survived by two nieces, Karen Cayton of Jeffersonville, VT, and Kim Murdoch of Enola, PA; and a great-nephew, Quinn Cayton of Jeffersonville, VT. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his animal companion, White Bird.

Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Dan Renno officiating in Our Mother of Consolation Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Twp. Following the graveside service a Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at 514 West 4th Street, Mount Camel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Community Church, 551 W. 4th St., Mt Carmel, PA 17851 or Mount Carmel Public Library, 30 S. Oak St., Mt Carmel, PA 17851.
