Kulpmont - Fred Joseph Procopio, 75, of 1604 Chestnut Street, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Isca Sullo Ionio Calabria, Italy on April 29, 1942 he was the son of the late Vincenzino and Saverina (Mirarchi) Procopio.  He was educated at the RCA Electronics' Institute in New York and was a self-employed television repairman.

On June 27, 1970 in Montreal, Canada he married the former Barbara Varano who survives.

He was a member of the Church of the Holy Angels, Kulpmont. He enjoyed listening to oldies records and loved visiting with family.  He was always available to help his friends and family since he was good at fixing things.  He enjoyed spending adventurous and calming times with his grand dog, Dodgy and grand cats, Lupini, Zoey and Nana.

Fred served with the US Army during the Vietnam War having received the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

In addition to his wife, Barbara he is survived by a daughter, Deborah Procopio of Montreal, Canada and two sons, Vincent Procopio of Maryland and Michael Procopio and his fiancé Andrea Smyers of Shippensburg; two sisters, Elizabeth Greco of Catawissa and Annina Procopio of Kulpmont; two sisters-in-law Joanne Procopio of Kulpmont and Mary Gidari and her husband, Luciano of Montreal, Canada; a brother-in-law, Nino Lijoi of Italy; his mother-in-law, Rosalina Varano of Montreal, Canada as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Raffaele Varano, a brother, Andrew Marshall Procopio I, a sister, Mary Lijoi and a brother-in-law, Justin Greco.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Fred Joseph Procopio, 75, of 1604 Chestnut Street, Kulpmont - Funeral Mass will be held Monday, May 22, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont with Father Andrew Stahmer, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kulpmont.  Viewing will be held Monday morning from 9:00 - 10:45 with transferal prayers at 10:00 in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 1053 Chestnut Street, Kulpmont, C.J.
