Mount Carmel - Helen M. Blase, 91, of 315 South Hickory Street, Apt 217, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 in her residence.

She was born in Girardville on April 18, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Helen (Spieles) Hoar. Helen graduated from Ashland High School in 1945. In 1951 she moved to Mount Carmel from Locust Dale and was employed at the meat counter at Central Market and Little Bear Market.

In Saint Joseph's Church in Locust Dale on April 28, 1951, Helen married the love of her life the late Joseph Blase, who preceded her in death on September 30, 1987.

Helen was a member of Church of Our Lady, the Alter Rosary Society, and Parish Council of Catholic Women.

Helen is survived by a sister, Marian Blase of Mount Carmel; two daughter-in-laws, Kathleen Patricia Blase of Kulpmont and Kathleen Ann Blase of Pottsville; five grandchildren, Christopher Blase and his wife Dorothy of Mount Carmel; Brian Blase and his wife Kaitlyn of Hershey; Abbie Blasick and her husband Tom of Riverside; Dr. Linda Blase and her husband Justin Anchorstar of Columbia; and Michael Blase and his fiancé Katie of Pottsville; seven great grandchildren, Luke Duceman, Timothy Duceman, Kylie Blase, Ellie Blasick, Anna Blasick, Tommy Blasick, and Alessa Wertman and her husband Eric of Danville also surviving is one great great grandson Camden. In addition to her husband and parents Helen was preceded in death by two sons Joseph Blase and Timothy Blase and her sister, Margaret Hosgood and two brothers, Francis and Thomas Harrin. Helen will be missed by her friends and family.

Helen M. Blase, 91, of 315 South Hickory Street, Apt 217, Mount Carmel - Funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11:00 am in Church of Our Lady, 47 South Market Street, Mount Carmel with Father Francis Karwacki, officiating.  Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.  Visitation will be held Friday morning from 10:00 until the time of mass in Church of Our Lady, 47 South Market Street, Mount Carmel.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial & Honor Program-F, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.  C.J.
