Irene A. (Rimokiatis) Derr, 87, of 908 Scott Street, Kulpmont, passed away on February 17, 2024, at the Mansion Nursing Home, Sunbury.

She was born in Kulpmont on April 25, 1936, the daughter of the late Bernard and Anna (Benyock) Rimokiatis.

Irene was raised in Mount Carmel and graduated from Mount Carmel High School. She worked in the garment industry as a seamstress.

On March 31, 1962, in Pottstown, she married William R. Derr, who preceded her in death on August 24, 2004.

Irene was a member of the Catholic Faith. She was an avid BINGO player. Irene spent many years as an electrician's assistant with her husband and son. She loved spending time with her family at home and on family vacations. The holidays were awesome with her home-cooked meals. While she was at the nursing facility, she took care of four baby dolls and loved them as much as she loved her children and grandchildren.

Irene is survived by her children, Thomas Derr and wife, Shirley of Las Vegas, NV, Debbie Derr of Hegins, William R. Derr Jr. and wife, Darlene of Mount Carmel, and Irene Derr-Balonis and husband, Robert of Kulpmont; a sister-in-law, Irene Francis Kessler of West Chester; ten grandchildren, Chrissy, Crystal, Tommy, Greg, Yvonne, William III, Melissa, Joseph, Justin, and Sierra; 14 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was preceded in death by her brother, Bernie Rimokiatis.

Irene's family would like to extend their gratitude for the great care given by all the staff at the Mansion Nursing & Rehabilitation in Sunbury.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating in the Church of the Holy Angels, Kulpmont. Burial will follow in the Kulpmont Protestant Cemetery, Kulpmont. Viewing will be held in the Church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Geisinger Janet Weis Children's Hospital, 100 N. Academy Ave. Danville, PA 17822.
