Irene R. Stellar, 95, of Kulpmont passed away Monday, March 20, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born on May 26, 1927, the daughter of the late Frank and Julia (Kerdock) Noskoviak.

Irene attended Mount Carmel Elementary School and High School. On February 15, 1947, she was married in St. Joseph's Church, Mount Carmel to Raymond Stellar, who preceded her in death on April 9, 2009. Together they shared 62 years of marriage and had two children, Patricia Kort of Kulpmont and James Stellar of Kulpmont, who preceded her in death on February 3, 2020.

She was a parishioner and choir member of St. Casimir's Church, now known as Holy Angels Church, Kulpmont. She belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jan Sobieski Club and was a member of the ILGWU.

Irene was employed as a seamstress for 42 years at the Humberland Dress Factory in Mount Carmel. She loved to sew and was very proud of the leopard coat she made for herself and the communion dresses she made for family members. She was always willing to repair clothing for family, friends, and neighbors. Irene's other passion was baking special cookies for holidays, birthdays, and special occasions. She always dressed for the appropriate holiday and delivered cookie trays to the Union National Bank and other businesses in Mount Carmel. She always talked about making cookies for the factory when the "big bosses" came to visit.

She was a kind, loving, caring person, and a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren enjoyed spending time with her especially at sleepovers in her home. She never forgot anyone's birthday including friends and neighbors and always kept a box of greeting cards on hand. Irene enjoyed her yearly vacation to Stone Harbor, New Jersey, where she walked daily through the town. Two of her favorite stops were at WaWa for a hot dog and coffee and Springer's Ice Cream Shop. She also vacationed with her family in the Poconos, Cape Cod, Hawaii, Outer Banks, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Disney in Florida.

Many will remember Irene taking her daily walks along the track in Kulpmont even in her 80s and playing her "numbers" in Kulpmont and Mount Carmel stores. Irene's family extends sincere thanks and grateful appreciation to the staff of Nottingham Village Nursing Center for the care and comfort they gave to her during her two-and-a-half-year residency there.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Patricia Kort and husband, Karl of Kulpmont; grandchildren, Alicia Fogelman and husband, David of Watsontown, Nathan Kort of Kulpmont, Rebecca Jones and husband, Gerald of Dunmore, Charity Stellar of Missouri, Sarah Stellar of Kulpmont, James Stellar and wife, Stephanie of Bloomsburg, and Anthony Stellar of Freeland; great-grandchildren, Ciaran Fisher, Sean Fisher, Spencer Fogelman, Maxwell Fogelman, Adeline Jones, Asher Jones, Trinity Depka, Olivia Depka, Ethan Depka, Cheyanne Irene Bieber, Cecelia Stellar, Logan Stellar, Colton Stellar, Denna Stellar, Aubrey Stellar, and Alexandra Stellar; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was preceded in death by her son, James Stellar; granddaughter, Jennifer Fisher; infant granddaughter, Lisa Kort; two brothers, Charles Noskoviak and Robert Noskoviak; and three sisters, Dorothy Tomashefski, Marie Tomashefski, and Joanne Kogut.
