Kulpmont - James A. Rovito Jr., 82, of 125 N. 6th Street, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Ashland on February 25, 1935 he was the son of the late James A. and Mary (D'Alexander) Rovito Sr. .

James has been a resident of Kulpmont since 1962. He was employed as a service manager for Xerox Corporation retiring in 1994.

On November 17, 1956 in Marion Heights he married the late Marie Rose Hradisky, who preceded him in death on December 10, 2008.

James was a 1952 graduate of Kulpmont High School.

He was an active member and volunteer at the Church of the Holy Angels. He also participated in Kulpmont Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and Kulpmont American Legion.  Previous memberships included the St. Mary's Holy Name Society as well as Our Lady of Lourdes Athletic Boosters and the Lehigh University Southside Boosters.

He was an accomplished football player at Kulpmont High School and also played at the semi-professional level and in the military.  He later served as a youth football coach.

He was also a talented musician playing tenor saxophone in the Al Hatzell Trio. Other passions included spending time with his family, playing golf, watching and following New York Yankee Baseball and attending all family sporting events no matter the location.

He served with the US Army & US Army Reserves, having received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was a Korean War veteran and was stationed in Japan at that time.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosemarie Williams and her husband Martin of Wilburton; a son, James A. Rovito III and his wife Paulette of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Brian L. Yablonski and his wife Bridget of Coal Township; Martin Williams Jr., of Wilburton; Maria R. Rovito of Harrisburg and James A. Rovito IV of Harrisburg; three step-grandchildren, Matthew Williams of Frackville; Jeffrey Williams and his wife Jen of Catawissa and Paul D. Long of Shamokin; two great grandchildren, Nathan Yablonski and Garrett James Yablonski both of Coal Township; three step-great grandchildren, Noah Williams of Frackville; Avery Long and Bennett Long both of Shamokin as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane C. Rovito, a sister, Marie R. Maus and her husband John Maus

Rovito Jr., 82 of 125 N. 6th Street, Kulpmont - Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11:00 am in Church of Holy Angels, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont with Father Andrew Stahmer, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kulpmont.  Viewing will be held Monday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 with a prayer service at 7:45 and Tuesday morning from 9:00 - 10:45  in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 1053 Chestnut Street, Kulpmont, C. J.
