Jennifer A. Chikotas

Mount Carmel - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our Jennifer Chikotas—wife, mother, daughter, and friend.

Just 53 years old, she was born in Shamokin in 1972 to Christine and Raymond W. Farrell. She was a 1990 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and wore many hats. She worked as a beautician in her own shop for a few years before switching careers after completing LPN school. She eventually earned her RN through Roxborough Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and her BSN at Bloomsburg University. For many years, and until her passing, she worked for Geisinger Health Plan.

In 2003, she married the love of her life, Kristian Chikotas, with whom she spent many wonderful years.

Jen was a mother like no other—as she fiercely loved her daughters, Kelsey of Philadelphia and Kaiden of Bloomsburg. Nothing in this world meant more to her than her girls.

Having a unique personality and one-of-a-kind humor, she accrued many friends throughout her life. She especially treasured her time spent with her special group of lifelong friends and loved her annual long weekends with these girls. Daily phone calls with her best friend, Chris, were always a given. She had the gift of gab and was the life of the party—never having met a stranger.

Throughout her career and beyond, she touched many lives. People would tell her family how Jennifer helped them in a time of need or went out of her way to aid them in some way. We will never grow tired of hearing this.

She was predeceased by her dad, Raymond W. Farrell, and her grandparents, Catherine and William Farrell, and Regina and Martin Santella.

Family vacations were one of Jennifer’s favorite things to do. She especially loved the annual Outer Banks trips with the Petrucci and Gownley families. That was her special place.

She was a longtime Steelers fan until Kelsey started saying, “GO BIRDS!” Attending concerts—and there were many—was another thing she relished. She also loved reading and would spend hours on the back porch diving into new books with a drink in her hand.

She is survived by her husband, Kristian; daughters, Kelsey and Kaiden; mother, Christine Farrell; great aunt, Annie Farrell; brother, Jeffery, husband to Traci; and nephew, Jackson, whom she adored. She is also survived by numerous extended family members. Her pets (babies), Opie and Otis, will miss her beyond measure.

Fly high, Jay, and look out for all of us still down here. We will love and miss you forever.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 11 a.m. with Father Jonathan Sawicki officiating in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 W. Ave., Mt. Carmel, PA 17851. The burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Twp. Visitation will be held on September 30, 2026, from 8 a.m. – 10:45 a.m., with transferal prayers at 10 a.m. in the C J Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mt.
