With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a loved one, Joann (Astick) Procopio. Joann, 81, died peacefully on January 14th, 2024, at Lorien Bel Air Nursing Home in Bel Air, MD.

She was born on June 1, 1942, in Shamokin, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Joesph and Ruth (Noll) Astick.

Joann was married to the late Andrew Marshall Procopio, Sr, who preceded her in death on November 15th, 2000. The two met at Crown Lanes bowling alley where they enjoyed many date nights together early in their marriage.

After leaving Kulpmont, Joann spent time with her daughter Ruth's family in Orlando, Florida where she enjoyed watching her grandsons grow into teenagers. She then spent time living with her son Andy's family in Fallston, Maryland before settling into Lorien of Bel Air Nursing Home. She was visited many times by her son's family and kept up with how all her grandchildren were doing.

Survivors include her two children, Ruth and husband, Robert Hopper of Orlando, FL and Andrew and wife, Kami of Fallston, MD. As well as her brother, Lenny Sr. and wife, Nancy Astick of Shamokin, PA, and a sister, Rose and husband, Tom Campton of Camp Hill, PA. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Zachary, Kyle, and Josh Hopper; Sophianna, Sienna, and Nico Procopio. In addition to her parents and husband, Joann was preceded in death by her brother, Joe John Astick on September 7th, 2015.

Joann is described as funny, social, and loving by her family. She was quite often on the phone with her kids, friends, and neighbors socially talking about everyday life. Joann had a strong passion for spending time with her family. Her favorite pastime was playing Bingo and putting puzzles together. She touched so many lives over the years by being a child caretaker and was nanny to all of them. Her two children and grandchildren meant the world to her and the time spent with her will be greatly missed. Joann will be especially remembered for the love and passion she embraced toward them.

A Funeral Mass of her remembrance will be held on Thursday, January 25th at 11 a.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont, PA. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kulpmont, PA. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25th from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with transferal prayers at 10 a.m. in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, PA.
