Mount Carmel – With heavy hearts, we celebrate the remarkable life of John C. Bossler Jr., who left this world on September 18, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Please don't ask what the "C" stands for because he wouldn't tell you anyway.

He was born on March 5, 1968, at Shamokin Hospital.

John graduated from Mount Carmel Area High School in 1987. While at MCA, he participated in track and field, played football as center #56, and was involved with the TV Studio. He later attended Lackawanna Community College and completed the Act 120 Police Academy, graduating in 1993.

In 1995, John married the love of his life, Candace (Hampton) Bossler in the First United Methodist Church, Mt. Carmel.

John demonstrated a deep commitment to his community through various roles, including serving as a police, fire, and ambulance dispatcher for Mount Carmel Borough, as well as working as an EMT for Regional Ambulance. He held positions as a Police Officer for both Mount Carmel Borough and Mount Carmel Township, a Correctional Officer for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and an Asset Protection Manager at Walmart. Additionally, he volunteered as Captain of the Mount Carmel Rescue Squad and was a life member of the American Hose Fire Company. John also coached for the Clover Hose Teener Girls Softball, MCA AYSO Soccer, and Jets Football.

John's favorite pastime was attending MCA football games with his father-in-law and best friend, Scott Yucha and Stan Yucha. He was a 3rd Degree Mason and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Sandra L. (Sheriff) McFee and John C. Bossler Sr.; step-father, George McFee; his grandparents; and in-laws. He is survived by his wife, Candy Bossler; children, Johnny, Erin, and Evan; sisters, Wendy (Bernie) Flynn, Amy Bossler (Jeff King), Michelle Bossler (Andy Shipe); step-brother, David (Linda) McFee; step-mother, Margie Buriak; as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 29th at 10:45 a.m. in the C J Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine Street, Mt. Carmel, PA, C J Lucas IV, Supervisor. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday in the Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
