Mount Carmel – John F. Henninger, 81, of 315 South Hickory Street passed away on March 12, 2022 at his residence.

He was born in Shamokin on December 11, 1940, the son of John and Clara (Bartosic) Henninger.

John was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School. He was employed for 20 years as a delivery driver at Mount Carmel Pepsi and 12 years as a fork lift operator at Paper Magic.

On July 9, 1966 in Our Mother of Consolation Church, Mount Carmel, he married the former Sylvia Swatski, who preceded him in death on January 14, 2003.

John was a member of the Clover Hose Fire Co. and the Anthracite Fire Co., where he served as President from 1986 – 1990. He enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino.

John is survived by his son, John J. Henninger and wife, Jamie of Mt. Carmel; a daughter, Maria Scicchitano of Danville; four granddaughters, Angela Henninger and partner, Adam Barry, Caterina Dobak and husband, Gilbert, Evelina Scicchitano, and Nicola Scicchitano; four grandsons, Michael Henninger, Matthew Henninger, Don Filippo and wife, Lea, and Don Carmine Scicchitano; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Claire Zimmerman of Mt. Carmel; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a sister, Betty Ann Sulick.

John F. Henninger, 81, of 315 South Hickory St., Mt. Carmel – Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 18, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Father Ryan Fischer officiating in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mt. Carmel, PA, C. J. Lucas IV, Supervisor. Burial will follow in Our Mother of Consolation Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Twp. Visitation will be held in the Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to help defray funeral expenses may be made to C. J.
