Kulpmont - Joseph John Barilla II, 70, of 1530 Fir Street, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at Geisinger Shamokin Hospital.

Born in Coal Township on June 8, 1946, he was the son of the late John and Mildred (Kovoleski) Barilla.  A lifelong resident of Kulpmont, Joseph was a graduate of the last graduating class of Kulpmont High School.  He was employed as a Control Room Operator at the Pennsylvania Power & Light, Sunbury, where he worked for over 20 years until he retired in 2003.

On October 29, 1976 in Ringtown, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Eisenman, who survives. If you had the honor of knowing Joe, he probably fixed your car or repaired/remodeled your home and  he had the pictures to prove it.

Joseph was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Mount Carmel.  He served in the US Navy, aboard the USS Rich, from 1964-1968 and was in the Vietnam War.   He received the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, and the First Good Conduct Medal Award.

In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by three sons, Joseph John Barilla III and Fiancé' Becky Manhart of Marion Heights, Steven Richard Barilla of Pittsburgh and Gregory Merle Barilla of NV; four brothers, Merle Bauman and wife Theresa of Kulpmont, Charles Barilla and wife Deborah of Strong, John Barilla and wife Michelle of Orangeville and Paul Barilla of Mount Carmel; three sister, Dorothy Barilla of Riverside, Camille Barilla of Riverside and Denise Hynoski and husband Frank of Marion Heights; a mother-in-law, Betty Edmondson of Shennandoah; as well as several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

FUNERAL NOTICE Joseph John Barilla II, 70, of 1530 Fir Street, Kulpmont - Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 7:00 pm in Grace United Church of Christ, 136 E. 3rd Street, Mount Carmel with Reverend Joan Brown, officiating.  Viewing will be held Thursday prior to the service from 5:00 - 7:00 in Grace United Church of Christ, 136 E. 3rd Street, Mount Carmel.  Burial will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family.  Service are being arranged by the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 1053 Chestnut Street, Kulpmont, C. J. Lucas, IV, Supervisor.
