Atlas - Joseph L. (Shag) D'Amico, 94, of 131 West Saylor Street, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Atlas on September 18, 1923, he was the son of the late Sabatino and Mary C. (Vallozza) D'Amico. A lifelong resident of Atlas.  Joseph was a carpenter, working for himself as an owner/operator.

On May 19, 1949, in Maryland, he married Jane Anne Higgins, who survives.  He was a life member of the Atlas Fire Company, Station 21, founding member of the Atlas American Legion, Post 804 and third degree knight of the Mount Carmel Knights of Columbus.  Joseph enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Joseph attended Divine Redeemer Church in Mount Carmel and was a member of the former St. Paul's Church in Atlas.

In addition to his wife, Jane, he is survived by a son, Joseph R. D'Amico and his wife Carol Ann of Mount Carmel; a daughter, Lisa Anne D'Amico and her fiancee' William M. McAndrew of Atlas; two grandsons, Joseph John D'Amico of Mount Carmel and James Frances D'Amico of NY; two sisters, Mary Hirsch of Mount Carmel and Eleanor Siedlecki of Exton and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward D'Amico and Albert D'Amico (infant); two brothers-in-law, Charles Hirsch and John Siedlecki.  Joseph will be sadly missed by his many family and friends.

Joseph L. (Shag) D'Amico, 94, of 131 West Saylor Street, Atlas - Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 11:00 am in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 West Avenue, Mount Carmel with Father Martin O. Moran III, officiating.  Burial will be at Indian Town Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA at 2:00 pm.  Viewing will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 9:00 am - 10:45 am with transferal prayers at 10:00 am in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, C. J.
