Joseph W. "Catz" Matulewicz, 74, born on February 21, 1952, passed away on May 26, 2026, at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community with family at his side. Originally from Mt. Carmel, Joe fought a courageous battle with cancer. He was a son of Betty (Tuto) Matulewicz.

Joe first married the late Roberta Merlo. Together they had two children, Rachel and Joseph (Molly) Matulewicz. Joe then married Tammie Supatina Karpinsky and is survived by his step-children, Amber (Russell) Leshinski and Kristin (Stephen) Matzura, and a step-son, Jeff Aaron who passed.

Joe was a graduate of Mt. Carmel, class of 1970 and was drafted during the Vietnam War. He made a 30-year career in the military. He was stationed in Germany and traveled throughout Europe.

Joe was a member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Paxinos. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, who enjoyed the outdoors and camping. He enjoyed the simple things and was content with taking a ride, listening to old songs, and tinkering in the basement. Joe was a kind and generous man and enjoyed a good time. He was also an avid Eagles fan.

Joe is survived by his wife, Tammie Matulewicz; mother-in-law, Nancy Supatina; two sisters, Cynthia (Jack) Wascavage of Kulpmont and Joan Thompson of CA; children, Rachel Matulewicz and Joseph (Molly) Matulewicz; step-children, Amber (Russell) Leshinski and Kristin (Stephen) Matzura; grandchildren, Elijah and Victoria Staub, Claire and Natalie Matulewicz, Lexi and Russell Leshinski, and Stephen and Frank Matzura; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, R. Merlo, Shelly (Vince) Lushinski, Heidi (Nelson) Alleman, Angel (Brian)  Casey; his beloved dog, Max; as well as several nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Matulewicz; first wife, Roberta Merlo; father-in-law, F. Supatina; stepson, Jeff Aaron Karpinsky; grandmother, Ethel Rodgers; a godson, Matthew Sandri; a sister-in-law, Jackie Slotterback; a brother-in-law, RL Thompson; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ernie and Tina Delbo.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Gurba officiating in the Mount Carmel Cemetery Chapel, Locust Gap Hwy, Mt. Carmel. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Beaverdale. Viewing will be held in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Chapel on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
