Kulpmont - Joseph R. Pupo Jr., 88, of 845 Spruce Street, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Shamokin on May 19, 1929 he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Anna (Mahalik) Pupo Sr.

Joseph was a 1946 graduate of Kulpmont High School and a member of the Church of the Holy Angels.  He lived a quiet simple life devoted to his family.  He also enjoyed watching sports and having daily coffee with his friends.

On January 7, 1950 in Kulpmont he married the former Irene M. Augustine, who survives. Joseph was a lifelong employee of the PA Department of Transportation.

In addition to his wife Irene M. Pupo, his family includes two sons, the late Paul Pupo and his wife Gina Pupo of Harrisburg; and Joseph R. Pupo, II and his wife, Cindy of Texas; a daughter, Mary Beth Moyer and her husband, Mark of Douglassville; nine grandchildren, Tabitha, Emily, Madeline and Samantha Pupo, Jayson and Joey Moyer, Anthony and Matthew Pupo, Stephanie Bader and her husband Nicholas of Harrisburg; two great grandsons, Everett and Jude Bader; a brother, Albert Pupo of Florida; a sister, Joanne Mudry and her husband Thomas of Kulpmont; two sisters-in-law, Rita Olaf of Danville and Verna Augustine of Bloomsburg as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents and son he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Emma Augustine, sister-in-law, Vilma Pupo, two brothers-in-law, Henry Olaf and John Augustine and three sisters-in-law, Ramona Warlo and her husband Joseph, Genevieve Williams and her husband John and Mildred Augustine.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Joseph R. Pupo, Jr., 88, of 845 Spruce Street, Kulpmont - Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to attend a funeral mass on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont with Father Andrew Stahmer, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kulpmont.  Visitation will be held in the Church of the Holy Angels from 10:30 am until the time mass.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Paul Pupo Scholarship Fund c/o Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, 2001 Clinton Avenue, Coal Township, PA 17866.
