Mount Carmel - Joseph P. Tomtishen, 90, of 316 East Seventh Street, died Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Mount Carmel on November 29, 1927, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Mary (Rolko) Tomtishen.

Joseph was a 1945 graduate of Mount Carmel High School.

On October 22, 1949 in the former Our Mother of Consolation Church he married the former Dolores Osinski, who survives.

He was employed as a laborer for JELD-WEN Windows retiring in 1992; he also worked 20 years for ArcWire.

Joseph was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, he served as Sergeant-at-Arms for 38 years at the American Legion, VFW, Lithuanian Club, Anthracite Fire Company and American Hose Fire Company all of Mount Carmel.

Joseph served his country with the US Coast Guard during World War II, in the South Pacific.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid Phillies fan and loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Dolores he is survived by a son Joseph D. Tomtishen and his wife, Louise of Ringtown; a daughter, Susan Polchin and her husband Emil of Mount Carmel; four grandsons, Joseph A. Tomtishen and his wife Megan of Ringtown; Christopher Polchin and his wife Libby of Exton; Stephen Polchin of Mount Carmel and Daniel Tomtishen of Ringtown; one granddaughter, Anne Savka and her husband Ryan of Drums ; one great granddaughter, Gretchen Tomtishen of Ringtown; one sister, Marian Schu of Mount Carmel; one sister-in-law, Gloria Tomtishen of Mount Carmel as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, John Tomtishen and his wife Shirley, Albert Tomtishen and Leonard Tomtishen and his wife Dorothy as well as a brother-in-law, Paul Schu.

Joseph P. Tomtishen, 90, of 316 East Seventh Street, Mount Carmel - Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 11:00 am in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 West Avenue, Mount Carmel with Father Ryan Fischer, officiating.  Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.  Viewing will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00 - 10:45 with Transferal Prayers at 10:00 in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, C.J.
