Judith A. Straub, 78, of Mount Carmel passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 18, 2023, from a battle with cancer.

Judy was the daughter of the late Stanley and Kathleen Silkowski.  She was a graduate of Shamokin Area High School and in 1970 she graduated from Empire Beauty School. Judy was a beautician in Shamokin and the Poconos.

Judy was of the Catholic faith and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

She married Roger Straub on June 27, 1970, at St. Stan's Church in Shamokin. Through their 53 years of marriage, Roger was a faithful and devoted husband. Judy always knew he loved her no matter what she did or said. She knew she was lucky.

Judy loved being a football mom and going to games. She also loved being part of Special Athletes and the Special Olympics. She loved being a grandmother and was proud of each of her grandchildren.

Survivors are her husband, Roger of 53 years; three children, Edward Straub of Mount Carmel, Christine Meyer and her fiancé, Darren of Pittsburg, and Roger C. Straub and his wife, Denise of Walnutport; six grandchildren, Danielle, Lauren, and Kyleigh Straub, and Emery, Adam, and Stephanie Meyer; three brothers, Joseph, Donnie, and Leroy; three sisters-in-law, Diane Silkowski, Patricia Deibler, and Grace Roseman; two brothers-in-law, Barry Roseman and Gene Adams; and several nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law; five sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11 a.m. with Father Francis Karwacki officiating in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 47 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held in the Church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
