Mount Carmel – Larry L. Smith, 81, passed away January 11, 2022 at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.

He was born in McKeesport on January 2, 1941, the son of John Smith and Florence Rovnak.

Larry was a 1958 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. He worked as a meat cutter at Giant and was a manager of the Central Supermarket, Mount Carmel.

Larry was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Clover Hose Fire Co., Mt. Carmel, Atlas Fire Co., Atlas Legion, the Lithuanian Club, and VFW, Kulpmont and Mount Carmel.

Throughout his life he enjoyed crossword puzzles, clipping coupons, listening to various types of music, tasting new beers, visiting with family, and anything to do with trains.

Larry is survived by four daughters, Crissy Riland and husband, Carson of NV, Kathy Gallagher of Shamokin, Diann Asher and husband, Justin of SD, and Lynda Godin of Mount Carmel; four granddaughters, Amanda Burleigh, Kayla Gallagher, Brionna Gallagher, and Danika Gallagher; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Burleigh; a nephew, Ed Kushner and wife, Julie of Shamokin; a great-nephew, Max Kushner; a great-niece, Maggie Kushner; as well as several cousins. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Judy Smith; a grandson, Jaret Baskin (infant); a sister, Sandy Kushner; and two sons-in-law.

Larry L. Smith, 81, of Mount Carmel – A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. in the The Hideaway Banquet Hall, 1028 Poplar St, Kulpmont.
