Mount Carmel – Lawrence T. Zsido, 89, of 446 W. 3rd Street, passed away on October 16, 2025, at Geisinger – Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

He was born in Diamondtown on March 14, 1936, a son of Gabriel and Agnes (Piziak) Zsido.

Lawrence was a 1953 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. That same year, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served for four years aboard the USS William C. Lawe (DD-763). Following his military service, Lawrence was employed by Cardinal Container and International Paper in Mount Carmel for 35 years.

On August 6, 1960, he married the former Anna Buckwash, who survives.

Lawrence was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, formerly Our Mother of Consolation Church. He was also a member of the VFW and the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his wife, Anna Zsido, he is survived by two nieces, Michelle Lenig and Janet Romanelli. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gabriel Jr., and his sister, Patricia Rudock.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Father Bernard Wamayose, A.J., officiating in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.
