Mount Carmel - Lucille Ann Swatski ("Busia"), born on February 24, 1937, daughter of Charles J. and Lucy (Kulick) Pulaski, passed away on Good Friday at her home in Mt. Carmel.

A lifelong resident, Lucille loved Mount Carmel and was proud of her Polish heritage. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's School and Valedictorian of Mount Carmel Catholic High, class of 1954. In 1957 Lucille graduated from Geisinger School of Nursing, Danville, PA.

In 1958, Lucille married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Peter Swatski; the two shared 64 years together.

Lucille worked part-time as a registered nurse (RN) in all departments at Geisinger Hospital. She worked as a private duty nurse (retired after ten years), and also served as Head Nurse at Mount Carmel Nursing Home.

Of the Catholic faith, Lucille attended daily Mass for 48 years; she was a lector and a member of the rosary group. Lucille attended St. Joseph's Church in Mt. Carmel since childhood. Later Lucille served as secretary of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish. For eight years Lucille and her husband were marriage prep mentors. A lover of birds, rabbits, dogs, and quiet nature, Lucille became a secular Franciscan in 1995.

Lucille was a lifetime Phillies fan. She enjoyed reading the daily Philadelphia Inquirer and countless novels; her favorite author--British novelist Jane Austen. Lucille studied classical piano for ten years and particularly enjoyed 1950s music.

Lucille raised five children, "lived frugally on a budget" (her words), and disliked shopping. Lucille cherished her children and grandchildren and was proud of their accomplishments. She tried to attend sports events, musicals, and concerts. She attended Red Tornado football games and Little League baseball games and walked everywhere.

Lucille is survived by her husband, Joseph P. Swatski; brother, Edward Pulaski and sister-in-law, Eileen, Hazleton, PA; sister, Jean Pulaski, Mt. Carmel; sister-in-law, Roseanne A. Pulaski, Steelton, PA; "Uncle" Henry Kulick, Lansdale, PA; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lucille's children: daughter, Katherine Runkle and son-in-law, Dean Runkle; daughter, Susan Diebold and son-in-law, Francis X. Diebold; son, Joseph C. Swatski and daughter-in-law, Mayumi Ono; son, Michael Swatski and daughter-in-law, Karla Nicolas Swatski; son, Christopher Swatski

Grandchildren: Martha (Runkle) Jaworowski, Abigail (Runkle) Brown, Hannah Diebold, Frank X. Diebold III, Gillian Diebold, Matthew Swatski, Timothy Swatski, Daniel Swatski, Anna Swatski, Leo Swatski, Maximilian Swatski, Haydon Miller Swatski, and Zane Miller Swatski. Great-grandchildren, Casey Jaworowski, Jesse Jaworowski, and Gemma Nipuni Swatski.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Charles "Kaz" Pulaski; sister, Joan Pulaski; uncles, Joseph Kulick, Arlington, VA, Peter Kulick, and Frank Kulick; and grandson, Noah Miller Swatski.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Lucille Ann Swatski ("Busia") of Mount Carmel – Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Francis Karwacki officiating in the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 47 S. Market Street, Mt. Carmel. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Twp. There will be no public viewing on Saturday morning, anyone wishing to attend the Funeral Mass will be ask to meet at the Church at 10:15 a.m. A viewing for the public will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 6 p.m. until the Rosary starting at 8 p.m. in the C.
