CARY, NC – Maria (Leone)Dwane passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the age of 80 years at her home in Cary, NC. She was born in San Biase, Italy, May 27, 1937 to the late Roberto Leone and Carmella Tanno Leone.

She spent her childhood on a farm in the Molise region of Italy and immigrated to England at age 16. Maria married in 1959 and immigrated with her husband to America a year later.  After living in Connecticut and Brooklyn they moved to Mt. Carmel and then, in 1973, moved to Kulpmont. They lived in the Coal Region for over 40 years before moving to Cary, NC in 2011.  Maria found the most joy in cooking for others, socializing, and planting new life in her garden.  Every guest inher home had a full belly and a meal to go.

Maria is survived by her husband of 58 years, James Gerard Dwane; her son, Robert Dwane and wife, Maribeth of Southwick, MA; her daughters, Anne Bogovich and husband, Mark of Cary, NC; Helen Hauer and husband, Aaron of Reston, VA; her brother, Camille Leone of San Biase, Italy; her sister, Antonietta Leone, of Sedico, Italy; and her grandchildren, Bridie Rose Dwane, Olivia Anne Hauer, and Jack James Hauer.
Maria was preceded in death by her brother, Michele Leone.

Funeral Notice
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 10:30AM Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont with Father Andrew Stahmer presiding. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg, PA.
