Shamokin – Mark Hornung, of North Market St., passed away Monday afternoon, April 19, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He is now home with his Lord and Savior. He was of the Methodist faith.

He was born in Mount Carmel, July 19, 1953, a son of the late Robert and Catharine (Kruskie) Hornung.

Mark was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School, Class of 1972 and attended Maryland Institute of Art. He was an artist and his painting was on the cover of the yearbook, he was a creator with a huge imagination. He moved to Texas where he was employed for most of his life as a contractor, building and painting wonderful homes. He enjoyed life to its fullest with an amazing sense of humor who had a Coal Region accent with Texan flair.

Surviving is one brother, Frank Hornung and wife, Terry of Cherry Hill, NJ; three sisters, Roberta Walburn of Tunkhannock, Vivian Guinan and husband, Richard of Mt. Carmel, and Debra Else and husband, Charles of Mt. Carmel; as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceded in passing was his older sister, Rebecca Renner and husband, Robert of Mount Carmel.
