Mount Carmel - Martin F. "Marty" Puchalski, 82, of 239 W. 7th Street, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born in Mount Carmel on August 7, 1940, he was the son of the late Joseph "Sam" and Tessie (Swaboski) Puchalski.

Marty was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School, class of 1959. He was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served from 1963-1965. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and an Expert Badge (Rifle). He was assigned to the 504 ^th Military Police Battalion and was stationed in Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam.

On May 24, 1969, he married Jan Zerby in Christ Congregational Church in Fountain Springs, PA.

He was employed as a painter for the Department of Welfare for the Commonwealth of PA until his retirement in 2002.

He was a member of the VFW and a life member of the American Hose Company.

Marty loved his family, his Country and his hometown of Mt. Carmel. He was known as a man of few words but if you saw him around town and told him to "Have a good day" his reply was always "You have a better one" which summed up his friendly and selfless nature.

Marty is survived by his wife, Jan Puchalski; two daughters, Kim Berezovske and husband, Dirk of Blue Bell and Jackie Dancho and husband, Dave of Numidia; a son, Derek Puchalski and wife, Kelly of Springfield; two granddaughters, Kristen Karanikas  and husband George and Kasey Puchalski; six grandsons, David Dancho, Jared Dancho, Dirk Berezovske Jr., Justin Dancho, Derek Puchalski, and Ethan Puchalski; two greatgrandchildren, Mia and Nora Karanikas; a brother, Walter Puchalski; two sisters, Theresa Golden and Ramona Farmer; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Martin was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Martin J. "Marty" Puchalski; and a brother, Joseph Puchalski.

Funeral Service will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers please send donations to your preferred U.S. Veterans affiliated charity.
