RICHBORO - Mary Ann May, 87, died on Monday, October 22, 2018 after a protracted illness with family by her side. Mary Ann, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Kakiel) Karpinski, was born in Mount Carmel, PA. She graduated from Mount Carmel Area High School in 1949, where she participated in many class activities, including musicals.

As a young woman, Mary Ann attended cosmetology school, and she owned and operated Lovely Lady Beauty Salon. After she married, and while she raised her five children, Mary Ann became a nurse. She retired after many years of practice at a local hospital in Bucks County.

Mary Ann was an avid traveler, enjoying ocean cruises and multiple trips to Europe, as well as Central and South America with her husband and children. Mary Ann was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Bede the Venerable Church located in Holland, PA, and she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also very active in her community, serving as a Republican Committeewoman.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, her eldest son, Edward Jr., and her brother, Joseph Jr. (served in the United States Army Air Corps killed in action during World War II), Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Pamela; her son, Scott; her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Jane; her son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Heather; her five grandsons: Ryan, Alexander, Mark, Matthew, and Quinlan; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 26, 2018 at 10:00 am in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 West Avenue, Mount Carmel with Father Ryan Fischer, officiating.  Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.  Viewing will be held Thursday evening, October 25, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm with the Rosary at 7:00 pm and Friday morning October 26, 2018 from 8:00 - 9:45 am with Transferal Prayers at 9:00 am in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, C.J.
