Mary (Diak) Nestico, 97, of Marion Heights, passed away on October 25, 2025, at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.

She was born in Marion Heights on August 10, 1928, to her parents, Wasil and Mary (Hardysh) Diak.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Marion Heights. She attended school in Marion Heights and later Kulpmont.

On August 21, 1954, she married the late James V. Nestico in Maryland, who preceded her in death on March 9, 2005.

Mary was a member of the Church of the Holy Angels, formerly Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Marisa McAnnaney of Elysburg and Karen (Scott) Persing of Marion Heights; two granddaughters, Jamie Hogarty and Mikayla Persing; a grandson, Kyle McAnnaney; a great-grandson, Jelanie Gist; as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by three sisters, Rosalie Diak, Helen Diak, and Anna (Anthony) Falkie; and three brothers, Andrew Diak, John Diak, and Paul Diak. She was the last surviving member of her family.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating in the Church of the Holy Angels, Kulpmont. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass in the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, 2001 Clinton Ave., Coal Twp, PA 17866.
