Coal Township - Matthew "Mike" Strike, 87, of 1537 Trevorton Road, passed away at home on August 15, 2018 with his family by his side.

Born on July 24, 1931 in Mount Carmel he was the son of the late Francis and Laura (Szramowski) Strike. He was served in the army and worked in the coal mines before he started his career as a police officer.

On July 9, 1953, he married the love of his life, Mildred Reinhardt at Saint Anthony's Church in Ranshaw. He was a member of Church of Our Lady, in Mount Carmel, formerly Saint Joseph's Church.

Along with his wife Mildred he is survived by a daughter, Diane Knorr; a brother Edward Strike; two sisters Josephine Smar and Regina Spering; his dog, Lily; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Matthew was preceded in death by his parents.

Matthew "Mike" Strike, 87, of 1537 Trevorton Road, Coal Township - Funeral Mass will be held Monday, August 20, 2018 at 11:00 am in Church of Our Lady, 47 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, with Father Frank Karwacki, officiating. Burial will be held in All Saint Cemetery. Arrangements are being cared for by C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas, Supervisor.
