Mount Carmel – Mercedes S. Martinez, 65, passed away December 14, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 15, 1956 the daughter of Jaime Gonzalez and Anna Medina.

On November 16, 1975, she married Johnny J. Martinez in Brooklyn, NY.

Mercedes is survived by her husband, Johnny J. Martinez of Mount Carmel; two sons, Johnny Martinez of Mechanicsburg and Jonas Martinez and wife, Kristi of Mount Carmel; two daughters, Mimi Russell and husband, Dowayn of Mount Carmel and Julia Martinez of Mount Carmel; ten grandsons; nine granddaughters; five great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters; two sisters, Anette Brown and husband, Al of NY and Anna Lisa Walters and husband, Jon of Harrisburg; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Martinez and Diana Martinez, both of Puerto Rico; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mercedes was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Medina; father-in-law and mother-in-law, RaFael and Louisa Martinez; brother, Benjamin Gonzalez; two brothers-in-law, Jun Martinez and Robert Martinez; and a sister-in-law, Neldy Martinez.

Mercedes S. Martinez,65, of Mount Carmel – Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the C. J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine Street, Mt. Carmel, PA 17851, with Rev. Joan Brown officiating. Visitation will be held in the Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
